"Coat of arms" and other happenings

Hello again parents, guardians, families and friends of IUHPFL Saumur 2019!

Yesterday and today, June 17 & 18, were regular days of the program. Apart from classes in Grammar & Communication with Martin and Literature & Culture with me, the students did theater and choir practice in the afternoon on Monday. Today, the students completed their first self-evaluation to check their progress in the program as well as to look at strategies on coping with the challenges of the program.
Tomorrow, (Wednesday, June 19), the students will be attending a special reception at the town hall where they will be greeted by the Mayor of Saumur, Mr. Jackie Goulet and his mayoral staff. Details of the reception and pictures will be shared in a separate blog post. In order to prepare for the reception, the students worked in two groups during the afternoon activities hour and worked on the topic that will be discussed tomorrow.
Over the two days, each student also presented the "Coat of arms" they designed for themselves. Saumur being a historic town with a coat of arms of its own, it was important for the knights of this program to create one which represents their personality the best. This activity is an excellent and fun way for each student to talk about what makes them 'them' and for everyone to get to know each other better! For the entire duration of the program, these "Coat of arms" will be up on display in our IUHPFL classroom.
Here are pictures of each student presenting their own masterpieces!

And here's one with all of them and their amazing coat of arms, each one thoughtfully done!

That's it from us. Do send us lots of positive energy so that our reception with the Mayor goes off splendidly tomorrow!
