Hello everybody!
Day 2 was the first day we followed our regular schedule of classes and it went off very well.
The students got to know which groups they are a part of and while Martin taught French grammar and communication to one group, I did French literature and culture with the other. After a good start to the day, we headed to the cafeteria for lunch. Post lunch, the students did a fun activity of creating their own personal 'coat of arms'. Here are a few pictures of the work in progress.
Thankfully, the sky cleared up and we saw some sun, so we could stick to our regular plan of Sports on Wednesdays! We got some frisbees from the school's sports equipment storage and after a few quick warm up runs around the court, the students played frisbee. Students ended their day with a high energy game of 'Ultimate Frisbee' and just like that, another fun day came to an end.
Here's a short video of them playing Ultimate Frisbee!
Today was Day 3 of the program and we began the day with important announcements about tomorrow's excursion, following which the students attended their academic classes. Lunch time (as usual) was at 11.50 am and we could already see that the students were now getting comfortable with the routine of forming a line at the cafeteria and navigating choices between different appetizers and desserts. Lunch time ends at 1.20pm for all of us on this program and then we have a 1 hour study hour. It was great to see everyone already diving into their tasks for the week and catching up on homework for next week. At the end of the one hour study session, it was time to split into our extra-curricular activities session. The students chose between Theater (facilitated by Martin) and Music (facilitated by me). So we now have two strong groups of 9 each.
Theater : Sophia T, Carlos, Houda, Stuart, Bailee, Elizabeth, Nismee, Lily & Julia
Music : Tyler, Sophia B, Diana, Liz, Devin, Amanda, Jenny, Jordan & Mason
The first session for both groups went off very well. The students came up with interesting and original ideas for the show we would prepare for host families and everyone at the end of the program. And like that, another good day came to an end.
Tomorrow, June 14, all of us have our first excursion to see three important castles in the Loire region. We meet at 7 am and we get back around 8pm. Host families will prepare something to eat for the students and they have already been told about this.
That's all for today! Stay tuned for another blog post after our visit to the 3 châteaux.
Until we meet again! Au revoir!
